Build stronger Bones with Stretch Band Exercises
Stretch band exercises are excellent for strength training. These exercises are performed with elastic bands and are very easy to take along when traveling. Price is about $10-35 for good bands.
Elastic bands can improve muscle strength and range of motion, which is a great benefit for older people. Exercise with these bands helps build stronger bones and can actually help reduce bone loss.
Below are sample workouts that can be performed after a 5-10 minute warm up.
Chest Pull
Wrap the band around a post of a stairway or something similar and hold the handles of the band in your hands. Start with the hands stretched out in front of you, pull the hands to your chest and return to the starting position. Do this about 10-12 times.
Arm Curl
Place the end of the band under your feet while standing. Pull the band up with your hands and then lower it to the starting position. Repeat this about 10-12 times.
